Back Washing FAQs

Lots of folks have asked questions about the backwashing head on the wholehouse system. Here are the three most commonly asked questions and the answers.

Q: How many gallons does it use in the backwash?
A: Around fifty gallons. It could be slightly more or less depending upon water pressure

Q: How long does the backwashing last?
A: It lasts approximately 10 minutes

Q: What is the flow rate of the backwash water?
A: 5-7 gallons per minute flow rate

Q: Does it have to backwash every day?
A: It's advisable to backwash daily but not mandatory. Often times systems on municipally treated water backwash once every three or four days. Systems on wells are urged to backwash daily. The frequency of backwash depends greatly upon the quality of water.

DT-40B Double Tank System

The CuZn Double Tank series attacks water with a one-two punch. This system was designed for use with municipal water but, with additional equipment, can be used for water drawn from wells or surface water like ponds, rivers or lakes.

Homes, light industry, farms, restaurants and many more applications will also greatly benefit from our two-stage treatment.

The first tank is filled with our copper-zinc medium and includes an automatic backwash head as shown in the picture to the left. The second tank contains a premium grade, de-dusted, acid-washed coconut shell carbon. It comes with a flow-through head as shown in the picture on the left. An automatic backwash head is an additional option. Both tanks can be refilled!
